How to change your Hostmate password and enable 2FA.

Your Hostmate Client Area login is separate from cPanel, email and WordPress logins. You can change your Hostmate login password and add two-factor authentication to protect your account.

Client Area

Log in to Hostmate.

Sign in to the Hostmate Client Area using your Hostmate user email address and password.

Open Client Area
2

Change Password

Open Change Login Email/Password.

From the account menu, open Change Login Email/Password and use the password section to set a new Hostmate login password.

This does not change your cPanel password.

Your Hostmate Client Area password, cPanel password, email mailbox passwords and WordPress passwords are separate credentials.

3

Forgotten Password

Use the password reset option if you cannot log in.

From the Hostmate Client Area login page, use the forgotten-password option and follow the reset instructions sent to your user email address.

4

Two-Factor Authentication

Open Two-Factor Authentication.

From the account menu, open Two-Factor Authentication. Start the setup for time-based authentication tokens.

Use a compatible authenticator app to scan the QR code shown by Hostmate.

5

Verify

Enter the six-digit authenticator code.

After scanning the QR code, enter the current six-digit code generated by your authenticator app to confirm setup.

6

Backup Code

Save your backup code somewhere safe.

WHMCS displays a backup code when 2FA is enabled. Store it somewhere secure so you can recover access if your authenticator device is lost or unavailable.

Do not store the backup code with the password.

The backup code is intended to help you regain access when your normal second factor is unavailable.

7

Account Users

Each user secures their own login.

If your Hostmate account has multiple Account Users, each person has their own user login and should manage their own password and 2FA.
