WordPress changes constantly.
WordPress core, plugins, themes and PHP versions all change over time. Compatibility problems, outdated software and plugin vulnerabilities are common causes of broken or compromised sites.
This service combines regular maintenance with monitoring for downtime, SSL problems, broken links, mixed content and other issues so you have better visibility into the health of your website.

What we actually do.
Each part of the service has a defined purpose and scope.
Database optimisation
Monthly database maintenance cleans up revisions, auto drafts, trashed posts, spam comments, expired transients and orphaned metadata while optimising database tables.
Uptime monitoring
Your site is checked every minute. Monitoring normally checks for a successful HTTP response and expected page content, with a secondary location used to confirm reported downtime before notification.
Broken link monitoring
Daily scans check internal and external links. When broken links are detected, monitoring notifications provide a list of affected URLs so they can be reviewed and fixed.
Mixed content monitoring
Daily scans check for images, scripts, CSS and other resources that are still loading over HTTP on HTTPS pages and may cause browser security warnings.
SSL certificate monitoring
SSL is checked every five minutes to confirm a certificate is present, valid, active and covers the correct domain.
Security checks
We review malware and security scan results each month and act on malicious code identified within the scope of the service.
Recovery + debugging
If an update causes a problem, we can attempt to identify the cause and restore the site from available backups where necessary.
PHP compatibility
We review the PHP version used by the website each month and adjust it where appropriate to maintain compatibility with WordPress, plugins and themes.
WordPress event logging
A 60-day WordPress event log helps track actions and changes that may be useful when investigating unexpected changes or failures.

This is a maintenance and monitoring service rather than an ongoing website design service.
One website per service
Each subscription covers one domain / one WordPress website.
Monitoring notifications
Uptime, broken link, mixed content and SSL notifications may be sent through the third-party monitoring provider used for the service.
Administrator access
Hostmate creates an administrator user and may install essential plugins needed to provide the service.
Auto-updates
WordPress core, plugin and theme auto-updates may be disabled so updates can be monitored and checked during scheduled maintenance.
Content changes aren't included
Website design, content editing, fixing broken links and fixing mixed content are outside the standard maintenance scope.
Additional work
Work outside the included service scope is available at Hostmate's regular half-hour support rate of $35.
Important Notes
Before you order.
The service renews monthly and can be cancelled at any time through the Hostmate client area. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current prepaid billing cycle, and the monthly service fee is non-refundable.
Monitoring can identify broken links and mixed content, but fixing those content issues is not included in the standard service. Websites that were already compromised before the service began may also require work outside the service scope if usable backups are not available.
No website can be guaranteed to be free of future security vulnerabilities. WordPress, plugins, themes and website code continue to change over time, so the service focuses on maintenance, monitoring, prevention and recovery where possible.
