Keep Your Own Copy
Download backups for safe keeping.
JetBackup backups can be downloaded to your computer, and cPanel also provides a separate Full Account Backup option.
Keeping your own external backup gives you another copy outside the hosting account. Full cPanel backups can be created when sufficient account disk space is available, downloaded, then removed from the hosting account to free the temporary storage they used.

Keep an external backup too.
Server-side backups are an important recovery layer, but keeping your own downloaded copy provides additional protection and control over your data.

JetBackup provides convenient customer-facing restores. mCloud Backup operates as a separate backup layer with a nightly server image, so Hostmate is not relying on a single backup platform.
The two systems have different roles: JetBackup is designed around accessible cPanel recovery with daily backups and 3 months retention, while mCloud Backup adds nightly server-image protection behind the hosting environment.

Imunify360 + True DDoS Protection
Protection at the network and hosting layers.
Layer 3, Layer 4 and Layer 7 DDoS protection helps filter attack traffic before it reaches the hosting environment, while Imunify360 helps identify malicious files and provides a front-line defence against website compromises.
Files and account data are scanned on an ongoing basis. New or modified files can be checked as changes are detected, including files uploaded through the web, File Manager or FTP. Hostmate also runs scheduled account scanning.
Imunify360 works alongside the hosting web application firewall and True DDoS protection to reduce risk before recovery is needed.
