Billing + Account Help

How to add and manage account users.

Account Users let you give another person their own Hostmate login and control what they can access. This is useful for staff, web developers, bookkeepers or anyone else who needs access without sharing your own password.

Hostmate Client Area Account Users Invite Users Permissions Separate Logins
1

Client Area

Log in to the Hostmate Client Area.

Sign in with your Hostmate account email address and password.

Open Client Area
2

Account Users

Open Account Users.

From the Hostmate account menu, open Account Users.

This page shows the users who currently have access to the account and any invitations that are still pending.

3

Invite a User

Enter the person's email address.

Under the option to invite a new user, enter the email address of the person you want to give access to.

If they already have a Hostmate login, they can use that existing login. If they do not already have one, they can create their own user login when accepting the invitation.

Do not share your own password.

Each Account User should have their own login so access can be controlled or removed without changing the main account owner's password.

4

Permissions

Choose what the user is allowed to access.

You can grant all permissions or choose only the permissions that person needs.

  • Products and services — allow access to hosting services and service management.
  • Domains — allow access to domain management.
  • Invoices and billing — allow access to invoices and billing information.
  • Support tickets — allow the user to view or open support tickets where permitted.
  • Account details — allow access to other account-management functions where appropriate.
Give only the access they need.

For example, a web developer may need access to hosting services and support but not billing information.

5

Send Invite

Send the invitation.

After choosing the permissions, send the invitation. The invited user will receive an email containing a link to accept access to the Hostmate account.

WHMCS invitations are valid for seven days. If the invitation expires, send a new invitation from Account Users.

6

Manage Permissions

Change a user's access later.

Return to Account Users, choose the user and open Manage Permissions.

Add or remove permissions as required, then save the changes.

The account owner always has full permissions.

The owner's own access permissions cannot be reduced from the Account Users page.

7

Remove Access

Remove a user when they no longer need access.

From Account Users, remove or revoke the user's access to the account.

This removes their access to your Hostmate account. It does not necessarily delete that person's Hostmate user login, because the same user can be associated with other accounts.

8

Multiple Accounts

One user can access more than one Hostmate account.

A user can be associated with multiple client accounts using the same login. When they have access to more than one account, WHMCS lets them choose or switch between those accounts after signing in.

Need Help?

Not sure which permissions to give?

If you are unsure what access another person should have, open a Hostmate support ticket and tell us what they need to manage.
