How to set up Hostmate email in Outlook.

Use IMAP so your email stays synchronised between Outlook, Webmail and your other devices. Outlook can often detect the settings automatically, or you can enter the secure Hostmate settings manually.

1

Get Your Email Settings

Open Connect Devices in cPanel first.

Before setting up the app, get the exact mail server settings for this mailbox from cPanel.

Go to cPanel → Email → Email Accounts, find the email address and click Connect Devices.

Connect Devices is the source of truth for your mail settings.

Under Manual Settings, use the Secure SSL/TLS settings shown for the mailbox. They give you the exact incoming and outgoing server names, ports, username and security settings to enter in your email app.

2

Before You Start

Have the mailbox details ready.

You need the full email address and the password for that email account. If you have just created the mailbox, test it in Webmail first.

Outlook

Add the email account.

In Outlook for Windows, choose Add Account and enter your full Hostmate email address.

If Outlook does not configure the account automatically, choose the manual or advanced setup option and select IMAP. In classic Outlook this is normally File → Add Account → Advanced options → Let me set up my account manually → IMAP.

4

Mail Settings

Enter the secure IMAP and SMTP settings.

Email / UsernameYour full email address, for example you@yourdomain.com.au
PasswordYour email account password
Incomingmail.yourdomain.com.au
IMAP Port993 with SSL/TLS
Outgoingmail.yourdomain.com.au
SMTP Port465 with SSL/TLS
SMTP AuthenticationRequired — use the same full email address and password
Use the exact settings from Connect Devices.

The settings above are a guide. The Secure SSL/TLS settings under cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices are the settings to use for your mailbox.

5

Use the full email address as the username.

For both incoming and outgoing mail, use the full email address and that mailbox's password. Outgoing SMTP authentication must be enabled.

Do not use your Hostmate billing or cPanel login.

Outlook needs the credentials for the individual email account.

6

Test

Send and receive a test message.

When setup is complete, send a message to another address and reply to it. This confirms both incoming IMAP and outgoing SMTP are working.
