How to set up Hostmate email on Android.

Add your Hostmate mailbox to the Gmail app on Android using secure IMAP and SMTP. IMAP keeps your messages synchronised with Webmail and your other devices.

1

Get Your Email Settings

Open Connect Devices in cPanel first.

Before setting up the app, get the exact mail server settings for this mailbox from cPanel.

Go to cPanel → Email → Email Accounts, find the email address and click Connect Devices.

Connect Devices is the source of truth for your mail settings.

Under Manual Settings, use the Secure SSL/TLS settings shown for the mailbox. They give you the exact incoming and outgoing server names, ports, username and security settings to enter in your email app.

Add the account in the Gmail app.

Open the Gmail app, open Settings, choose Add account, then select Other.

Enter your full Hostmate email address and choose Personal (IMAP) or the IMAP option when prompted.

3

Incoming Mail

Enter the IMAP settings.

Use your full email address as the username and the password for that mailbox.

Use the exact settings from Connect Devices.

The settings above are a guide. The Secure SSL/TLS settings under cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices are the settings to use for your mailbox.

4

Outgoing Mail

Make sure SMTP authentication is enabled.

The outgoing server should use mail.yourdomain.com.au, port 465, SSL/TLS and authentication with the same full email address and mailbox password.

5

Finish

Choose sync and notification options.

Android may ask how often to check for mail, whether to show notifications and what name should appear on outgoing messages. Choose the options you prefer and finish the setup.

6

Test

Send and receive a test message.

Send a message to another address and reply to it to confirm both IMAP and SMTP are working.
